Clarifying the Power of a Collective

AUCD faced a complex communication hurdle: explaining the relationship between a central “University College” and its diverse, autonomous member colleges. To prospective member institutions, the benefits of joining a collective – such as self-accreditation and compliance support – can often feel bogged down in administrative jargon. AUCD needed a high-level brand film that could articulate their value proposition while honouring the distinct theological identities of each college, from mission-focused training to Catholic religious education.

A Metaphorical “Kingdom” Tapestry

Our creative strategy was to use a scripted, poetic voiceover that leaned into the metaphor of a “vast and colourful tapestry.” We developed a hybrid visual style that combined a scripted narrative with a sophisticated “animated thread” device. This allowed us to visually weave together disparate stories—missionaries, Indigenous leaders, and local church ministers—into one unified picture. By using the threads as a transition between the “animated world” and curated footage, we were able to illustrate the “common thread” of AUCD’s support without requiring on-site filming at every individual campus.

A Strategic Recruitment and Brand Asset

We delivered a cinematic explainer that serves as both an invitation and an educational tool for potential member colleges. The film successfully reframes “compliance” and “accreditation” as foundational strengths that provide members with the “freedom and confidence to dream.” By positioning AUCD as a facilitator of innovation and collaboration, the final production gives the University College a powerful visual identity. It effectively communicates that while each college is a unique strand, they are collectively “weaving the light of the gospel” into the world with greater impact together than they could alone.
